Description
King Roller Mills Family Friend Self Rising Flour, 32 oz (2 lb) bag
Milled in King, North Carolina
Family Friend Self Rising Flour comes from King Roller Mills in King, North Carolina, the same Stokes County mill behind Cherokee Corn Meal. Self-rising flour already has the leavening and salt mixed in, so tender, fluffy Southern biscuits come together fast.
King Roller Mills is the hometown mill on East Dalton Road in King, North Carolina, in Stokes County, a working mill that grinds meal and flour (and animal feed) for the local community. Its bags have been a staple on King-area pantry shelves for decades, and you'll find them on the shelf at Lowes Foods in King today.
A personal favorite: I live just two miles from the mill, and I've eaten it every day since I was a boy. If you grew up in the Piedmont and miss the real thing, this is it.
How to use it
- Biscuits: just add buttermilk and shortening or butter for classic Southern biscuits
- Cornbread & hushpuppies: mix with Cherokee Corn Meal for a lighter cornbread or hushpuppy batter
- Fried fish, chicken & okra: a light, crispy dredge
- Dumplings, pancakes & cobblers: quick from-scratch favorites
Ships fresh from North Carolina. Made in NC.
